GDPR looks like a threat, but is in fact a great opportunity. The reason is simple. GDPR requires companies and public institutions to level the privacy data playing field.
What will emerge is a clearer and better flow of privacy information, warranted by rules that are the same across EU.
Once the data will be sorted, acquired with appropriate consent of individuals for each purpose of use, and once the data will be properly protected, what we can expect is a release of a wide variety of new uses of data, from business analytics, to data exchanges, more data sharing among companies, all transparently managed under the control of the data owners themselves – the individuals.
